At Aligned Living, our team of therapists is dedicated to creating a supportive and empowering space for growth and healing. Based in Northwest Arkansas, we provide holistic counseling for adolescents, college students, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and major life transitions, with in-person sessions available in Fayetteville and Fort Smith, telehealth across Arkansas, and opportunities for nature-based outdoor and animal-assisted therapy.

Emily Starr, M.S., LPC-TAC

Emily is a Licensed Professional Counselor and founder of Aligned Living Counseling & Coaching with over 20 years of combined experience in residential, outpatient, and school-based mental health settings. She specializes in attachment wounds, anxiety, trauma, relationship concerns, women's issues, and self-worth, working primarily with adults and college students.
Known for her warm, direct, and holistic approach, Emily integrates evidence-based therapy with nervous-system-informed, experiential, outdoor, and animal-assisted therapy to help clients create lasting change.

Tessa VanDerHorn, M.S., LPC

Tessa is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Women's Mental Health Specialist who works with teens, adults, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, eating disorders, substance use, and women's health concerns. She takes a whole-person, evidence-based approach that integrates nervous-system-informed care to support meaningful, lasting change.
With a compassionate and collaborative style, Tessa helps clients build resilience, strengthen relationships, and create healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Lisa is a Licensed Professional Counselor with nearly 30 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. She specializes in trauma (certified in TF-CBT), anxiety and depressive disorders, eating disorders, PTSD, crisis support, and self-worth concerns.
Known for her steady and compassionate presence, Lisa tailors her approach to meet each client’s unique needs, helping them move toward clarity, confidence, and hope.

Caitlin is a Licensed Associate Counselor with experience in inpatient, intensive outpatient, school-based, and office-based settings. She works with adolescents, college students, and adults facing anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, life transitions, and self-esteem challenges.
Caitlin is also a certified Perinatal Mental Health provider, supporting individuals and families before, during, and after pregnancy as they navigate the emotional and relational shifts of parenthood.

Kristen is a Licensed Associate Counselor who works with adolescents, adults, and couples navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relational distress, and major life transitions.
With experience in both school-based and clinical settings, she brings a calm, supportive presence and helps clients gain clarity, strengthen communication, and build confidence in how they move through life and relationships.

Savannah is a counseling intern completing her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Arkansas. She enjoys working with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, grief, life transitions, relationship concerns, identity exploration, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Savannah is passionate about creating a warm, accepting space where clients feel genuinely heard, supported, and empowered to grow.

Office Manager/ Therapy Dog
Ellie, CGC, ATD
Ellie is a 3-year-old Goldendoodle who is proudly Canine Good Citizen certified by the American Kennel Club and a registered therapy dog through the Alliance for Therapy Dogs. She's trained to bring comfort, ease stress, and make everyone’s day a little bit brighter.
She specializes in snuggles, wet-nosed greetings, and offering a calm presence when you need it most.
Her favorite things include hiking, stuffed animals, belly rubs, and making new friends- whether she's helping ease nervousness, lifting spirits, or simply sitting quietly by someone’s side.
